My upbringing is very similar to the Hope Shines students so I very easily relate to what they go through on a daily basis and no one is able to do everything on their own. We all need each other.

Hope Shines Facility Manager

My connection with my child has made me more aware of the challenges she faces, as well as her resilience and determination to meet those challenges. I’m confident my financial and personal support are well placed. Investing in her potential and her future wellbeing is a decision I’m grateful to have made.

Meet Jessica

Jessica is a petite, lovely girl born in 2014 who lives with only her mother and 1 brother called Prince. Prince has been enrolled with Hope Shines since 2016. The family lives close to the Hope Shines center in a village called Ingenzi.

Jessica’s mother is constantly unemployed due to her lack of education beyond primary school. Fortunately, because of the Hope Shines platform, her mother was able to join the parents committee and contribute to the better cause of the children and the other parents. Her means of income result from her inclusion in the savings and loan program created within the committee. From this program, she saves money and is able to borrow when she needs it.

Jessica is currently in first grade of primary school, where she likes to study the native Rwanda language, Kinyarwanda. In her free time, Jessica likes to play and socialize with the other children. She says that when she grows up she wants to become a nurse and help others be well!
