My upbringing is very similar to the Hope Shines students so I very easily relate to what they go through on a daily basis and no one is able to do everything on their own. We all need each other.

My connection with my child has made me more aware of the challenges she faces, as well as her resilience and determination to meet those challenges. I’m confident my financial and personal support are well placed. Investing in her potential and her future wellbeing is a decision I’m grateful to have made.

Meet Germaine

Fully Sponsored!

Germaine is a confident and funny young girl, born in 2006. She lives with her mother, 2 sisters and 5 brothers (her twin brother is also a student at Hope Shines, Germain) in a small mud house with no electricity or access to clean water in a slum area pf the city in a village called Muhoza. Germaine’s mother doesn’t have a permanent job, but she does part-time work washing clothes for other people and that happens to be the only source of income for the family. She likes to help out her mother by cleaning the house.

She is currently close to finishing primary school where her favorite subject is Mathematics. Germaine wants to become a doctor or more specifically a gyneacologist when she grows up.

Germaine is a joyful, open minded girl, who loves to sing. She is also a talented and enthusiastic dancer. That made her into one of the soloists of Hope Shines traditional dance troupe. She has a lot of friends at Hope Shines and they like to be around her. She tends to stay positive despite her situation and it serves as a good example to the other kids. Her favorite sport is volleyball.
