My upbringing is very similar to the Hope Shines students so I very easily relate to what they go through on a daily basis and no one is able to do everything on their own. We all need each other.

My connection with my child has made me more aware of the challenges she faces, as well as her resilience and determination to meet those challenges. I’m confident my financial and personal support are well placed. Investing in her potential and her future wellbeing is a decision I’m grateful to have made.

Meet Diane

Needs Sponsor

Diane is a beautiful girl born in 2012 who lives with both of her parents and 2 siblings, both brothers. One of her brothers, Evatom, is also enrolled in Hope Shines, which makes the days fun when they see each other so much. The 5 family members all live in a one-bedroom house with limited electricity in an area of town called Nyakabanda, Kigali. Her mother sells vegetables and her father does part time work for them to have a stable life.

Before Diane enrolled at Hope Shines in early 2020, the family was unable to pay for school requirements such as attendance fees and supplies. They are hopeful that both children will continue down a positive path with the guidance of Hope Shines.

As a person, Diane seems to be quiet at first, but when you approach her you will find that she is a sharp girl who is open to engaging with you. She warms up quickly and also loves getting to know the other children in Hope Shines.

Diane is currently in her third year of primary school where her favorite subject is the native language in Rwanda called Kinyarwanda. She is highly interested in becoming a nurse in the future and takes studying at school very seriously to help her achieve this goal!
